Company History

1987 – The Early Days

Back in 1987, Mark Reeves was a broke Siena College sophomore in Albany, NY when a friend casually said, “My brother makes good money sealing driveways.” That one throwaway comment was the spark. Mark bought a tank, a squeegee, and started Siena Sealers as a summer gig… then never really stopped. What began as “let’s see if this pays for books and beer” turned into decades of paving and heavy construction work—and eventually the equipment-focused company now known as PavementGroup.

1990

By 1990, Siena Sealers wasn’t just sealing driveways anymore—we were paving them and handling commercial repairs. Mark’s brother, Ned, joined after finishing his civil engineering degree at RIT, and the business grew through the ’90s the old-fashioned way: solid work and happy customers who kept calling back.

1990s – Growing Up Fast

Through the 1990s, the work got bigger and the map got wider. We picked up regional accounts with Home Depot and Cumberland Farms, handling paving and repairs throughout New England and as far south as Georgia. Winters were for keeping crews busy and lots open—so snow plowing and ice control became a big part of the mix too.

Late 1990s–Early 2000s – From Paving to Iron

By the late ’90s, we were deep into machines, not just mix. We became a dealer for Bagela asphalt recyclers, Stepp Mfg. pavement maintenance equipment, and later RSL British-made recyclers. Running, selling, and supporting those lines gave us real-world, day-in/day-out experience in asphalt recycling and a deep, nuanced understanding of how to use, service, and repair pavement equipment.

2002 – PavementGroup Is Born

In 2002, we formalized the equipment side of what we were doing and launched Pavement Technologies Int’l Corp. (PavementGroup)—shifting our primary focus from running paving crews to sourcing, selling, and supporting pavement and recycling equipment.

2012 – SkidPatcher & the Air Force

In 2012, we moved from selling other people’s recyclers to building our own. We designed and built the SkidPatcher asphalt recycler, which was selected for the U.S. Air Force’s SUPR Kit (Sustainment Pavement Repair kit) for rapid runway repair. Those skid-steer units ended up working on bases around the world and later evolved into today’s AmeriPatcher line.

2014 – STRATOS & OLYMPUS Launch

By 2014, we took the next step and launched our own full-scale equipment lines: STRATOS asphalt distributor tanks and trailers, and OLYMPUS pugmills, cold feed bins, and surge bins. Working with seasoned engineering and manufacturing partners, we shifted from knowing good equipment to designing the equipment we wanted to run ourselves. That’s where PavementGroup really took shape: we committed to building our own brands while continuing to grow a strong used and consigned equipment business around that expertise.

Today – Where We’ve Landed

Today, PavementGroup is a well-known name in pavement maintenance, asphalt recycling, and pugmill systems, with our STRATOS, OLYMPUS, AmeriPatcher, and AmeriSpreader brands working alongside a steady flow of used and consigned machines. Over the years we’ve built a loyal, growing base of repeat customers who count on us for practical advice, honest answers, and equipment that does what we say it will do.

We’re big enough to ship iron all over North America and into 30+ countries, but still small enough that you’ll get real people on the phone who actually know the machines. We started with a driveway squeegee and now build the kind of no-nonsense equipment we’d want to run on our own jobs.
